Flannery's folksy Bluegrass porch music is the real deal. His songs come out of the Earth like veins of coal and are covered in white lightning.

Hello friends! In a world that keeps changing by the minute; from politics, our leaders,  our daily lives,  our changing thoughts and perceptions, I am faced with the challenge of coming up with a Whats New" link?  There is so much going on, and things seem to be changing so fast that it has become difficult to hold onto anything “new” for more than a moment. Ride this stream of consciousness with me and I will do my best  to get you all caught up-for now.

I am headed back to San Francisco to coach 3rd base again for the Giants. This has been a remarkable experience, not only to be part of teaching, nurturing, coaching and watching a young team grow,  but we are getting close to becoming a real good baseball team. It is a privilege for me to be able to hand down the gifts that I have been given and share them with so many young players. It is very fulfilling to continue to be part of this sacred game now for 30 years. Truly amazes me that I have been so blessed.

On the music end of things, that too has been an amazing journey this last year. Though the economy crashed, and so many have felt the hardships of it, many of you came still to hear our music and be part of our shows.

This is never taken for granted and from the heart I say,   “You humble us, and thank you.” We played many shows, from Immigrant ships in San Diego to Winery's in the Sierra foothills, and my musical friends played and sang like angels. It is always exciting to wake up and know the music and songs keep taking you to new places on this journey of the muse.

We are putting the finishing touches on a brand new CD that will be released in the fall of 2009 called "Traveling Shoes"; produced by Jeff Berkley.   After 30 years of traveling around with wood in my hands; bats and guitars, it seemed I had written lots of new songs that needed to be played and recorded. I don't know what else to do with them? Ha!

Anyway, we will have all of that posted on this site with updates and shows to come. To be able to perform again for you all is something I always look forward to. In the meantime, I am going to live by a motto I saw painted on a door last week, “Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors.”

God bless....and again, thank you for your incredible support. Tim

It's my once a year time to try and figure out "what’s new"?
I had an incredible time in San Francisco, we didn't win as many games as I hoped but I had a blast running up and down the third base line coaching again.
I also got to witness the Barry Bonds show and saw so many things from my perspective that I am still trying to sort out. Incredible drama, suspenseful theatre, bad guys vs. good guys the whole ball of wax. We had Jesse Jackson praying on us and Don King promoting a fight. I could go on and on but most wouldn't believe me and the truth is always stranger than the fiction.
I did get a few new songs out of the experience and have been playing them in shows since the last out was made. I traveled to the Midwest with Steve Poltz as his opening act, and that act usually started about noon until the night was over. We had a fun time playing five straight nights in Santa Inez Calif, Fairmont Illinois, Chicago, Lexington Kentucky then Indianapolis, In. Traveling with Poltz is like "fantasy troubadour camp". We do it in a nice comfortable way. After playing five nights solo it was great to come back and join the Enablers in a few shows. It's great playing with the band and the folks seem to really enjoy having us back in town. Thanks. So "what’s new"?  More shows are planned, and you can check the website to see where and how to find us. It feels really great to be home again with the friends and family, and the band and the surf, and all that I love about California. I am headed back to San Francisco in February to try again to get the Giants back on the map in the Western Division. We will be younger and that always excites me. It's like brand new songs, you never know what to expect until you play them. That always keeps you working and enjoying each moment. See you soon, at a show or on the sacred field.

I always love writing this "what's new" link because by the time it is written and posted I am sure many things will have changed. In just the last week alone here in San Diego my entire life took another turn. I left the San Diego Padre organization from which I was part of for the last Twenty-Three years with my baseball career and joined the San Francisco Giants as their Third Base Coach. Then the day after that happened I flew to Texas and played Five straight nights with my friend Steve Poltz. We had a blast and played some incredible rooms. In Dallas we played Bend Studio, then the Cactus Room in Austin, San Antonio had us in the Red Room, then we traveled to East Texas and played a cool small city named Athens. The people of that town were so generous and we played an amazing show for lots of music fans that came out to hear the stories and songs. The next night we were in the legendary Mucky Duck in Houston playing for a great listening audience. Thats my point, that all happened in Six days. What I think will be happening from this day on is this, I have a new CD coming out Feb 10th 2007 which we will release at the La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas . The record will be called "The Wayward Wind", this is a project I always wanted to do, and have been working on for the last year or so. It honors my many musical influences growing up in California. I tell people it is like a 1970's California Country record. I wrote Six of the Ten tracks for the record, but also covered Merle Haggards "Kern River" and Neil Youngs "Once An Angel" and a couple others that made our ears perk up back then and feel good now..

I am only playing a few shows this Fall-Winter and then it is off to San Francisco to try and win a World Championship and snuff out all that is bad in the game ( ie. decimal points, ops, vorp and all the other weird computer stats that have somehow creeped in like a virus to make the gut instincts of baseball men cringe everywhere) I am going back to continue my dream of winning a World Series (been there twice and lost twice) in the big leagues and also to continue to give back to the game that has meant so much to me through the years. Of course everyone that knows me understands the music always is what keeps me somewhat together and the writing never stops. So there you have it, if you want on the e-mail gig list let us know, and remember you can always download lots of FREE music from this site so tell your friends. Next Fall and winter we have a few shows already confirmed so all of this will be on the site at a later date. First and foremost a huge thank you to our friends who always seem to come out to the the shows and support us in whatever we are doing, and where ever the Wayward Wind takes us.

God Bless.....tim
